The European Resuscitation Council is pleased to announce that Federico Semeraro has been elected as the new Chair of the ERC.
He is a dedicated consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at Azienda USL di Bologna, committed to saving lives. Since February 20, 2020, he has been actively involved in implementing best practices to improve treatment protocols for patients experiencing cardiac arrest. His efforts to advance care standards highlight his dedication to patient safety and effective emergency response.
Federico Semeraro brings to the role a wealth of experience in the world of research, science policy and leadership. He has a distinguished career in both academic and institutional settings, and his work has consistently been at the intersection of cutting-edge research and strategic policy. His extensive experience in managing large-scale projects and supporting high-impact research will be invaluable in his new role as ERC Chair. As Chair of the ERC, he is committed to furthering the mission of the ERC in fostering excellence in European science and supporting the brightest minds in their pursuit of groundbreaking research, and his four years of experience as the ERC Chair-Elect from 2020 to 2024 will undeniably serve as a tremendous advantage, fueling greater achievements ahead.
Federico has held a significant leadership role as President of the Italian Resuscitation Council. He served from 2015 to 2017 and continued as Past-President from 2017 to 2019. His contributions have been instrumental in promoting scientific guidelines and improving resuscitation training and practices throughout Italy.
As a distinguished member of the ILCOR BLS Task Force and co-leader of the ERC Kids Save Lives initiative, he inspires us all to make a difference in the world of resuscitation.
