Get Trained Save Lives (GTSL) campaign, a collaborative initiative between the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the European Resuscitation Council (ERC). The initiative was announced on February 2, 2023, at the headquarters of the German Football Association (DFB) in Frankfurt during the eighth UEFA Medical Symposium. It was officially launched in November 2023. Since its launch, this innovative campaign has educated nearly 200,000 football fans through one of our platforms.
According to Dr Zoran Bahtijarević, Chief Medical Officer, UEFA: "The success of this campaign has exceeded all expectations. Even more exciting is that our partnership with the ERC will continue, and we are set to train even more people by engaging football clubs through our new collaboration with the European Club Association. The original campaign gradually turned to the ongoing project, significantly enhancing community safety and awareness. "
Carsten Lott, Director - Training and Education of the ERC, stated: "Football has proven to be an excellent catalyst for taking awareness programmes about a life-threatening worldwide problem - sudden cardiac arrest - to the next level. Our experience will influence awareness and training programs worldwide."
Jan Van Dooren, CEO of the ERC, added about this collaborative initiative: "It has been an amazing journey so far, and there is much more to come."
